UvendTech Case Study

How We Transformed UvendTech’s Vending Machines with Custom Software for the Malaysian Market

UvendTech, a vending machine operator in Malaysia, had recently upgraded to a new fleet of smart vending machines. However, the pre-installed software created multiple challenges: it was rigid, didn’t support local payment methods, made daily operations difficult, and lacked smooth backend integrations for easy management.

We developed custom vending software to address all these gaps. Our team added local payment options, streamlined backend integrations, and simple management tools. This turned the machines into a user-friendly platform that was easy to operate, efficient, and ready to scale.

UvendTech Overview

UvendTech - Project Goal

The existing vending machine software was not built for the Malaysian market. Our client wanted a system that supported local payments, was simple to manage, and flexible enough to grow. The goal was to make machine operations easier while preparing the business for nationwide expansion.

Challenges and Solutions

Lack of Localization

The pre-installed smart vending machine software wasn’t designed for Malaysia. It didn’t support the local currency Malaysian Ringgit, the Malay national language, or the tax rules.

Our Solution

We customized the original software for the Malaysian market. We included the national language support, integrated MYR payments, and aligned everything with local tax regulations. After these updates, the machines were finally ready to be introduced to the public, without confusion or compliance risks.

Incompatible Payment Systems

Most Malaysians pay with e-wallets like Touch ’n Go, GrabPay, or ShopeePay. Since the vending machines didn’t support these, they weren’t practical to be introduced in the country.

Our Solution

Our team integrated all the popular local e-wallets and gateways. This gave people the freedom to pay with the methods they already use daily. This simple fix made the machines not just launch-ready. It also made it attractive to modern customers who expect fast and cashless payments.

No Backend Integration

At first, the vending machines worked on their own. There was no connection to a central system. Our client couldn’t see its sales, check stock levels, or learn what customers liked.

Our Solution

We built APIs that linked every machine to UvendTech’s backend. Now sales, stock updates, and customer insights appear in real time. This gave UvendTech full control and made the machines ready for wide deployment.

Limited Remote Management and Branding

Before our updates, there was no way to manage or monitor machines remotely. If our client wanted to update software, push promotions, or check performance, it had to be done manually on-site.

Our Solution

We created a central dashboard with live monitoring, predictive alerts, and remote update features. We also enabled UI customization, which allowed UvendTech to brand machines and run campaigns easily. These changes turned the machines into a scalable and market-ready solution.

Key Features of UvendTech Vending Software

Localized System

The vending software was made for Malaysian people with the national language Malay, local MYR currency, and local tax rules. This ensured both compliance and customer convenience.

Backend API Integration

The software was linked with CRM, inventory, and reporting systems. This gave UvendTech clear data on sales and stock, boosting efficiency.

Customizable Branding & Promotions

We designed a flexible interface where UvendTech could run loyalty programs, coupons, and brand campaigns directly on their vending screens.

E-Wallet & Payment Integration

We connected the system with all popular Malaysian payment options like Touch ‘n Go, GrabPay, Boost, and ShopeePay. So, customers could pay in whatever way they prefer.

Centralized Dashboard

Operators manage all machines from one place. They can track sales, check vending machines' health, and restock the inventory on time.

Real-Time Alerts & Updates

The system sends instant alerts for errors, low stock, or service needs. In this way, remote updates keep machines running without breaks.

The Outcome

UvendTech’s vending machines are now fully ready for the Malaysian market. Customers can now pay the way they’re used to, in their own language and currency. At the same time, operators enjoy smoother control and real-time insights into their vending machines. What was once a rigid and limited system has transformed into a flexible platform that’s branded and built for growth. Today, UvendTech isn’t just running vending machines. It’s a localised modern experience that keeps customers coming back.
