Showdrop wanted to take traditional vending machines and turn them into smart sampling units for grocery stores. To make this possible, we had to build software that could handle things like QR code access, offline use, inventory tracking, and temperature control. So we designed a custom vending app that made sampling easy for shoppers while giving brands a branded, reliable, and user-friendly way to run promotions.
Showdrop needed a simple way for shoppers to claim free samples without extra steps or staff involvement. The goal was to make the process fast, secure, and easy to use in busy retail environments, while allowing customers to actually enjoy the approach.
We built a custom QR code-based dispensing system. Shoppers scan a code to start the process, the app validates their access, and the machine instantly releases the sample. It’s quick, intuitive, and creates a simple sampling experience for both consumers and brands.
Retail environments don’t always have stable internet connectivity, and interruptions like that can lead to frustrated shoppers and missed sampling opportunities. Showdrop needed their vending machines to keep working even when the internet dropped.
We built an offline mode that keeps the machine running smoothly without the internet. All transactions are stored locally and automatically synced once the connection is restored. This ensures uninterrupted service and a reliable sampling experience, no matter the network conditions.
Showdrop needed a way to ensure that some samples stayed fresh inside the vending machines. Without temperature monitoring, there was a risk of spoiled products and safety concerns that would have led to a poor brand experience.
We integrated the app with machine sensors to monitor temperature in real time. It triggers alerts if fluctuations occur and even allows remote adjustments to cooling settings whenever supported by hardware. This keeps samples fresh and ready for shoppers at all times.
Showdrop wanted their vending machines to do more than just hand out samples. They needed an experience that was fast and visually aligned with each brand’s campaign. A generic interface could turn shoppers away instead of drawing them in.
We designed a custom UI that adapts to different brand campaigns, complete with branded visuals, messaging, and flexible layouts for various product types. We made the interface eye-catching so that it really appeals to people in malls. We ensured that it is easy to use, even for first-time shoppers, and creates a memorable experience that instantly connects consumers with the brand.
